Boom shakalaka original song

An onomatopoeic “in your face.” Originally the sound of a slam-dunk in basketball — the “boom” being the dunk, and the “shakalaka” being the rattling of the backboard.

To express a feeling of joy and dominance, while at the same time trying to show the world who you are and where you stand in the society.

VegasLowRoller epitomizes the spirit of Boom! Shakalaka! His YouTube slot videos are among the most entertaining out there and I highly recommend that you check out his channel. At the time I’m writing this, he has over 53,000 subscribers and some of his slot play videos have over a million views.

After watching a video of an incident at the Wynn Casino in Las Vegas, I contacted him and asked if I could blog about it. He graciously agreed and answered some of the questions I’ve been wanting to ask him.

Below are a few of his fun videos, as well as two about the incident at the Wynn Casino.

How long have you been filming your slot play?
Boom Shakalaka Slot
I just had my five year anniversary! It was pretty special to me – I even made a video to celebrate it.
Five years is a long time for something that started out a flyer of a hobby. And I’m so glad I picked it up. The slot community on YouTube is amazing.
I think a lot of us have a similar story. I was browsing around on YouTube when, I don’t remember exactly how, I stumbled upon a slot video. It was either Casinomannj or The Shamus of Slots. I don’t remember exactly which one of them it was, but they were definitely my introduction into the YouTube slot world.
I was like, “Hey, I throw my money away every week too! Why not join in on the fun?”
And that, my friends, is the story of how I slowly started to annoy 52,000 people. 😉
I’ve noticed many slot play YouTubers don’t show anything but the machine, but why did you decide not to show your face?
I’m a very private person and I have pretty severe social anxiety, so having people recognize me and come up to me while I’m out and about would be a little jarring for someone like me.

That being said, it is very clearly something the community of viewers want, so I’ve been slowly but surely working towards conquering my lifelong battle with the anxiety and spending some face time with my friends.
Do people in casinos recognize you from your voice?
All the time. I’m embarrassed to admit this, but as the kids say, I gotta keep it real – in the beginning, when people would recognize my voice and ask, “Are you VegasLowRoller?” I’d often say, “Who? No, sorry…” It’s terrible, I know, but it was my way of dealing with the situation.
More recently, tho, I’ve begun to embrace it and say hello, shake hands, talk for a bit… I’m trying. 🙂
Did you always use the term Boom Shaka Laka as an in your face, look what I did moment, or did you just start that while playing the slots?
“Boom!” I think is a pretty common expression when someone has an in your face moment, but after the video game NBA Jam came out where “Boomshakalaka!” originated, “Boom!” turned into “Boomshakalaka!” and the rest is history.

SlotCon is related to what we were talking about above. It’s my way of giving everyone the face time they want. We’ve set a date (August 17th, 18th, 19th, 2018) and everyone who watches slot videos is welcome to come, hang out, it’s gonna be a great time.
We’re gonna have group pulls, a group dinner, snacks, a live Q&A with other YouTubers… I can’t wait. As I’ve slowly been working on my social anxiety, I’ve actually found myself getting excited about meeting so many people instead of being terrified by it. I can’t wait.
The website to learn more about it or register is www.SlotCon.com

The two videos below are what made me want to write about VegasLowRoller. I admire the courage it took to post them.
